2018 ECNU International Forum for Young Scientists (Scholars) & The Third International Symposium for Young Researchers on Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics(ISYRAMO-Ⅲ)

Shanghai, China, April 26th - 28th, 2018

I. Introduction

To promote academic exchanges and in-depth cooperation between outstanding young scholars at home and abroad, ECNU has taken the initiative to host the annual international forum for young scientists (scholars). During this period, the university's faculties, schools, and departments will also host sub-forums based on different disciplines and academic areas. Through invited speeches on specific topics, academic discussion, and on-the-spot investigation, the forum aims at enhancing the participants' understanding of ECNU and Shanghai.By now, the forum has been held twice, with more than 120 participants from various countries and regions.

In the overall layout of the university, the State Key Laboratory of Precision Spectroscopy will hold a sub-forum，the Third International Symposium for Young Researchers on Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics(ISYRAMO-Ⅲ), on April 28, 2018. The symposium aims at bringing together young scientists around the world in the field of the atomic, molecular, and optical physics, providing a forum for communication and to collaborations on the progress, and attracting young scientists to work in the key lab.

The symposium covers the precision control of the optical field in the time and frequency domain, optical spectroscopy of atoms and molecules, and applications of the ultrasensitive optical spectroscopy in the metrology, including as the ultrafast laser physics, optical comb, ultracold quantum gases, cold molecules, single-photon optics, etc.

III. Application requirements (Applicants should meet one of the following two requirements)

1. Applicants should be aged below 35 (or 40 for humanities and social sciences), with a PhD degree from prestigious Chinese or foreign institutions of higher learning or research institutes, and an overseas research experience of 3 years in succession (those with exceptional research achievements are not restricted by the number of years working overseas), and have made outstanding academic achievements in their frontier areas.

2. Applicants hold official teaching or research positions in prestigious Chinese or foreign institutions of higher learning, research institutes, or in the R&D department of famous enterprises and have made breakthroughs in their frontier areas. They should also have important academic and social influence.

V. Travel Reimbursement and Accommodation

ECNU will reimburse round-trip air tickets for invited participants(economic class for international flights, up to RMB 12,000 yuan/person for participants from Europe and America and to RMB 6,000 yuan for participants from other countries or regions). Travel expenses for invited participants from China will be reimbursed upon presentation of original receipts based on the relevant state financial policies(economic class for flights, second class for domestic high speed train). Accommodation during the forum is free and will be arranged by the university.
