Abstract

Due to the broadband spectrum of ultrashort intense laser pulses different pathways can contribute to the ionization of atoms. The competition between the contributions can be analyzed via asymmetries in the photoionization angular distributions. In the talk we will discuss how standard anisotropy parameters and a new proposed set of asymmetry parameters can be used for the analysis as function of the duration and peak intensity of the applied laser pulse. In the applications we will consider ionization from the ground as well as from superposition states in the atom.
