报告摘要:

Real-time technique for direct chemical detection and analysis presents tremendous interest and challenge to the scientific and industrial communities. Today, this talk is split into two sections within the different fields. The first is focused on VUV optics for studying toxicants formation and evolution in electronic cigarettes in a sub-second time scale. Such studies allow us to see the detailed and dynamic picture for product performance. The second is concentrated on infrared spectroscopy of carboxylic acid dimers in the gas phase. The quantitative measurements of vibrational frequencies of hydroxyl groups by infrared spectroscopy reveal subtle interactions among intra- and intermolecular H-bonds in the acid-acid dimers, which are then uniquely extended to probe each monomer's subtle intramolecular interactions.
